Apple introduced three new phones including the iPhone X, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. The question we all are contemplating is, “Should I get the iPhone 8 or 8 Plus, or should I splurge for the iPhone X?” Hold up. Am I missing something here? Where’s the iPhone 9?! Apple originally skipped from the original iPhone to the iPhone 3G, not because it was the third iPhone but because it supported the 3G network. So there was never an iPhone 2. They’re letting the number signify something else, in this case they’re using the X as the 10th year anniversary. Oddly enough, Windows skipped from Windows 8 to 10.
iPhone X and iPhone 8 Price Comparison
Considering the major price difference between all three, it’s really going to be a matter of how much you’re willing to spend and what must-have features you want. I know I sure am contemplating which one to grab.
iPhone X Features
All three have the same iOS 11 and A11 Bionic chip processor, new wireless charging, 12-megapixel camera, and 4K video recording capabilities. See Apple’s extensive comparables on specs.
Screen size is one of the main differences in these three phones. The iPhone 8 has a smallest 4.7-inch display while the 8 Plus (5.5-inch) is almost comparable to the iPhone X of 5.8-inches. The iPhone X will have the edge-to-edge OLED screen, creating a more vivid picture vs the LCD screens on the 8 and 8 Plus.
Face ID and Animoji are features only found on the iPhone X. If you are really excited about facial recognition and being able to have emojis mimic your facial expressions, then I guess you would have to go for the X.
Vaja Cases will have some of the finest leather cases for the iPhone X and leather cases for the iPhone 8. All external features and buttons are accessible.
What the iPhone X is Missing
A home button, fingerprint ID, and gold color option. There’s no home button, just a single swipe to go back to the home page. Their facial recognition is more secure than fingerprint ID. If you’re really digging your rose gold color, this option will NOT be available with the iPhone X. Just space grey or silver.
This series of iPhones will be THE phone to have and an extremely hot commodity for the holidays. There’s something magical about getting a new phone and taking everything out of the box; it’s almost like Christmas morning for adults. With every new phone we get, we need to accessorize. There’s the protective screen cover to the case, which can totally transform the look of your brand new phone. A premium leather case, or even a wallet case would be the perfect fit for the new iPhone of choice.
After all this comparison, I’ve ruled out the iPhone 8; not big enough screen and missing out on the portrait lighting mode. Now the 8 Plus is a decent upgrade from the 7, but lack the significant upgrades that the iPhone X offers. Why not get the latest and greatest if you’re already spending hundreds of dollars on it? Let’s say you opt for the 8 Plus with the 256GB, you’re already at $950, a mere $50 more you’re at the X.
